FATHERS RESTING IN THE LOARD

  REV. FR. PIUS EDASSERIPARAMBIL CST

Born 08/08/1929
Ordination 17/12/1984
First Religious Profession 17/05/1953
Slept in the Lord 14/07/1985

After having spent 35 long and dedicated years of service in the Little Flower Congregation, Fr. Pius left us for his eternal reward on the 14th of July 1985. All those who came in contact with him recognize him as a great missionary, good preacher, good writer and a zealous religious. He was full of love for the poor and the oppressed. As a CST Brother from 1952 to 1979 he held responsible offices in various capacities. First he was the Pharmacist of the Golden Jubilee Hospital, Mookannur. When the Government sanctioned the first Post Office at Mookkannur through the efforts of Rev. Fr. Basilius, Bro. Pius was appointed the Post Master, which post he held for more than 15 years. He was made procurator at St. Stephen's Ashram, Mathumkal, St. Thomas Ashram, Kottor, and Little Flower Ashram, Mookkannur. He worked hard to make the Ashram self sufficient by cultivating the land skillfully. He had a special knack to win the hearts of the workers. He was very kind to them and to their families. They, in turn; loved him very much. As an assistant to the Novice Master he rendered very substantial service at Mookkanur and Puthencruz. In 1979 he was given permission to join priesthood and after his philosophical studies at the Little Flower seminary, Alwaye, he completed his priestly studies at St Thomas Apostolic Seminary, Vadavathoor and was ordained priest on 17th December, 1984 by Mar Dominic Kokkat, Bishop of Gorakhpur. He joined Punjab Mission on 21, 1985. No long afterwards he was elected one of the councillors in the mission region. On account of his unusual ability and altruism he was given charge of Ferozepur city parish and was appointed Chaplain to CMC sisters of St Joseph's Convent, Ferozepur. After celebrating Mass in the convent he was returning to the rectory when his motorcycle collided with a military truck and he was fatally injured. Consequently he was admitted to Ferozepur Hospital where he breathed his last on the 14th of July 1985 and the funeral was conducted at St. Joseph's Church Ferozepur. < MAY THE LORD GRANT HIM ETERNAL REST / HA VE FOUGHT THE GOOD FIGHT, I HA VE FINISHED THE RACE, I HA VE KEPT THE FAITH (2TIM 4: 7)
